2026 Summer Leadership Development Level 1 - MTY

Build youth leadership skills for future camp counselor roles in this summer Level 1 program. The two-week camp runs weekdays and includes training in communication, physical literacy, and child development, with daily recreational swim testing.

Ignite their potential this summer with YMCA Leadership Development Level 1. This program prepares youth to learn how to become counselors for camps or recreational activities for younger children.

Participants learn communication, physical literacy, child development, and practice leading activities. Successful graduates can continue on to Leadership 2, 3 and Junior Counselor programs.

The two-week program runs Monday to Friday from 8–5pm, unless a holiday is scheduled. Payment is required at time of registration.

Camp Welcome Email: you will receive a welcome email for each camp with important reminders the Friday before your camp start date.

Campers Requiring Additional Support: the YMCA asks families to contact the program manager prior to registration if one-on-one and/or additional assistance is needed.

Swim testing: a daily swim test is completed for safety and to determine mandatory life jacket use. Camp belongings should be labeled, and the YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Camps with low enrolment may be canceled and you will be notified by telephone and email.
