Artist Talk with Hugo da Silva

Join Hugo Viana da Silva for an evening at the Fogo Island Inn Cinema. During his two-month residency on Fogo Island, he made several video studies that he will present, followed by a talk. RSVP required. Please call: 709-658-3444. Hugo Viana da Silva lives and works in Paris. A performance artist and filmmaker, he uses the camera and cinematic tools as extensions of his body, proposing disorienting perspectives on the relationship between the body and the world. Through a system of body-mounted cameras, he restages his own gestures, behaviors, and domestic activities, allowing them to drift toward animal-like forms of life, as if experienced from within, thus unsettling our perception of the human body.
