Echo Productions Presents: In God's Pocket
Thu, Jul 30 · 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM · LSPU Hall · St. John’s, NL
Set in 1918 Newfoundland, In God’s Pocket follows Kitty Cantwell, one of two female survivors of the SS Florizel disaster, which saw 96 people lose their lives due to a set of entirely avoidable circumstances when the ship ran up on the rocks just off of Cappahayden. It is a story of female empowerment, where we see Kitty struggle against the anxiety and fear that her sheltered upbringing has instilled within her as she navigates the terror and helplessness of this tragic event. She emerges alive, if not unscathed, and we find a quiet dignity in the way that she challenges societal norms in her own way
