Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, which also draws from theatre music, with melodies and moods that portray scenes, characters, and shifting emotions. After intermission, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastorale” brings the evening to a gentle close, offering a reflective ending to a program shaped by musical imagery and atmosphere.
