Living Room
Part of Sound Symposium XXII
Mon, Jul 20 · 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM · Memorial University of Newfoundland - School of Music · St. John’s, NL
Living Room is a large-scale interdisciplinary electroacoustic percussion work by Luke Blackmore that transforms a familiar domestic space into a site of artistic exploration. Merging contemporary classical music with theatre and dance, the piece delves into themes of isolation, identity, and control within the social and cultural context of the living room. Transducers attached to furniture allow the space itself to resonate with sound, prompting reflection on our connection to domestic environments.
The work examines how our living spaces influence our sense of self and agency. It questions whether these spaces foster connection or isolation, and how we express ourselves within them. Living Room is a thought-provoking exploration of the relationship between technology, performance, and our personal environments.
