Living Room
Part of Sound Symposium XXII
Sun, Jul 19 · 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM · Memorial University of Newfoundland - School of Music · St. John’s, NL
Luke Blackmore's 'Living Room' is a large-scale interdisciplinary work that transforms the familiar domestic space into a site for artistic exploration. Merging contemporary classical music with theatre and dance, the piece delves into themes of isolation, identity, and control within the cultural context of the living room.
Utilizing transducers attached to furniture, the space itself becomes an instrument, joining the performer to examine our connection with our living environments. The work poses questions about agency and self-expression within these personal spaces, inviting audiences to consider their own relationship with their homes.
