Next to Normal is a musical that explores family, love, grief, and mental health with rare honesty and compassion. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and three Tony Awards (including Best Original Score), it tells the story of a family struggling to find balance in the wake of loss, illness, and the complexities of caring for one another.

Told through a rock-infused score and deeply human storytelling, Next to Normal offers an unflinching look at the impact of mental illness—not only on those who live with it, but on the people who love them. As the characters navigate memory, medication, and the desire to move forward, the musical asks what it truly means to be “normal,” and whether such a thing even exists.
