Songs and Stories by the fireside @ The Battery Cafe

Songs and Stories by the fireside @ The Battery Cafe

Wed, Jul 22 · 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM · The Battery Cafe · St. John’s, NL

Songs and Stories by the fireside is a low-pressure, artist-centered open mic experience created as a stage and space for honest sharing and reflection. The series is conducted in a hybrid conversational, interview-style format, where artists are invited into thoughtful dialogue with the host about their work, their process, and their lived experiences in the middle of their set. It offers space for artists who want to explore and share the deeper connection between their human story and their artistic expression, and audiences who value that kind of intimacy. Half of all proceeds will go to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).To register, please email [email protected] the host:Nana Kwame Obese Nana Kwame Obese is a Ghanaian musician and storyteller based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. His work is rooted in migration, memory, and the everyday realities of building a life between cultures. Blending what he calls “Ghanaian blues and Newfie rhythm,” his music explores themes of home, identity, resilience, and emotional growth. His recent project, 42A Wexford Street (Before the EP), reflects his journey of learning, healing, and creative renewal. Alongside his music, Nana leads Ronfit Healing Space—an online wellness space that meets twice a month—drawing from his lived experience with bipolar disorder to create spaces that support connection, reflection, and honest expression through art.--0--Our max capacity is 35 so larger groups (>3 people) should arrive well ahead of time.We suggest you arrive at least 15 mins early to avoid the rush.
