Sound Symposium XXII: Duane Andrews, Pirarán, XEL
Fri, Jul 17 · 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM · LSPU Hall · St. John’s, NL
This Sound Symposium event presents an eclectic evening of music with three distinct artists. Duane Andrews offers a broad musical exploration, known for his work with The Hot Club Of Conception Bay. Pirar
is a networked ensemble blending analog and digital synthesizers with live-coded soundscapes, drawing inspiration from a wide range of genres and Latin American modernism. XEL crafts genre-bending audio-visual and sonic worlds using semi-modular synthesis, field recordings, and electroacoustic processes to create evolving ambient and drone soundscapes. Her practice is informed by eco-feminine thought, mythology, and decolonization.
