Tom Allen: Brahms in New York

Tom Allen: Brahms in New York

Part of Tuckamore Music Festival

Sat, Jul 4 · 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM · The Majestic Theatre · St. John’s, NL

This event imagines a fascinating alternate history: what if a young, creative Johannes Brahms had been sent to America instead of becoming the celebrated successor to Mozart and Beethoven? Narrator Tom Allen, a passionate musician and storyteller, guides the audience through this 'what if' scenario, set against the backdrop of 1880s Vienna.

The performance features a stellar cast of musicians, including soprano Deantha Edmunds, violinist Heather Kao, harpist Lori Gemmell, pianist Bill Brennan, and bassist Jim Vivian. Together, they bring the story to life with glorious music, exploring the divergence between the life Brahms lived and the one that might have been.

Tom Allen is a renowned CBC broadcaster, trombonist, and author, known for his engaging storytelling cabaret shows. This latest production, "Brahms in New York," promises a captivating blend of narrative and exceptional chamber music.
