The Tina Dolter Gallery Exhibition “Unfixed / Uncontained” by Hadiza Jummai Bello closes on July 22.
The exhibition describes a multidisciplinary approach using painting, textiles, beadwork and sound. Bello draws from personal and cultural references, family, fabric, hair and everyday gestures that hold meaning over time—framing how identity is formed through history, repetition, care and daily life.
Bello is a Nigerian visual artist based in Newfoundland and Labrador with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus. Her practice works across painting, textiles and sculpture, exploring Black joy, cultural memory, and the resilience of African diasporic traditions, while engaging questions of race, representation and belonging.
